This superfine grade Dahongpao is one of the best available. Wuyi Mountain, in the north of Fujian province, is the birthplace of this ‘king’ of teas called Dahongpao, and also known as the Big Red Robe or The Emperor's Crimson Robe in English. This history of this tea goes back hundreds of years. Legend has it that this tea was so precious that people decided to protect the tea bushes with red robes. Nowadays, there are just four original bushes producing Dahongpao left. The tea from these four bushes is worth more than its weight in gold, and normally reserved for those in positions of great power or those with a lot of money. Therefore, it's almost impossible to aquire this original Dahongpao tea. Fortunately, it is possible to find great Dahongpao at a much more reasonable price.
The best thing about a great Dahongpao is the aftertaste (hints of osmanthus). While drinking the tea you will find that it leaves a nice taste in your throat. However, the truly amazing thing is that after drinking the tea the taste is still there, and it will even return to the tip of your tongue. Even if you drink a glass of water afterwards the great taste of Dahongpao will remain. This is an
incredible sensation that everyone should experience for themselves. This tea is perfectly suitable for drinking at anytime of the day.
Brewing instructions: This tea tastes the best in a porcelain or clay pot. Use 3-7 grams of this tea and add boiling water. To prepare half a liter of this tea, use around 7 grams depending on your personal preference. However don't start with too much tea, otherwise the tea will become bitter. Steep the tea for a few seconds if you like mild tea and for a little more than a minute if you like strong tea. When using the kungfu tea set, use 3 grams and steep for around 20 seconds. It's not necessary to wash this tea, but it doesn't hurt. We recommend that you also try using an YiXing clay pot to experience the differences in taste.
If you store this tea in a dry place, it can keep for years without losing taste or going bad. You don't have to store this tea in the fridge.
If your order total doesn’t exceed 300 grams, the standard shipping tariff will be 4 euros and it will take around 12 days for you to receive the tea at home. If you order more than 15 euros, shipping will be free.
