Near the top of China’s top ten most famous teas, Bi Luo Chun is a tea originating from the areas around Suzhou. This tea was first produced in the Ling Yuan temple, on the Bi Luo peak, and is now famous for its remarkable taste. The name Bi Luo Chun was given by the Qing Emperor, who was a big fan of this tea. Thanks to this moniker provided by the emperor, Bi Luo Chun was officially declared an imperial tea.
Bi Luo Chun is processed by using a wok which has been heated to 200 degrees Celsius. In order to get the best quality Bi Luo Chun, the tea must be picked before the Qingming Festival. To produce one kilogram of high quality Bi Luo Chun, 15,000 tea buds are used.
Brewing instructions: Use approximately 3 grams of Bi Luo Chun Tea per cup and water just below boiling temperature. Depending on your personal taste, you can steep the tea anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. If you find the tea to be quite bitter you should steep it for slightly less time. When using the kungfu tea set, add around 4 grams and steep for about 10 seconds each time. Before drinking, you should rinse the tea once for washing purposes by steeping it for 20 seconds.
